A passion for making accurate,
attractive globes

Clayton ChangReplogle Globes Partners, LLC

The world's biggest maker of globes

The Hobonichi Globe is the first globe we have produced together with Watanabe, our partner in Japan.

Our company, Replogle, is a globe maker that was established in Chicago, Illinois by Luther Irvin Replogle in 1930.

At that time, the company's concept was to put "globes in every home."

We're still in the midst of pursuing that dream, but so far we have become the biggest globe maker in the world, providing globes in over 150 styles and in more than 30 languages.

When the company was founded, the customers purchasing globes were just schools and other educational institutions.

However, most of the globes we sell now are bought for homes and offices.

Having a globe in the home is a wonderful thing.

It gives you accurate knowledge of the world's size and locations.

In addition to doing that, Replogle globes have an established reputation for their beautiful appearance.

I think that's one reason why many families want to have a Replogle globe in their home.

Replogle is passionate about globes, and the people who make our products are proud of what they do.

They work hard day in and day out to always make globes that are accurate and attractive.

Rigorous prototyping took time

The first time I saw the Hobonichi Globe, I thought it was quite unique.

You can see the world as it really is.

I think the Hobonichi Globe has detailed representations of the Earth's geographical features, such as mountains, deserts, forests, and plains.

When you look at it, it reminds you that the Earth is a beautiful planet.

It has painstaking details and I think it's a very attractive globe.

We worked with Watanabe to produce the Hobonichi Globe.

The challenging thing in this project was converting artwork depicting the Earth's surface on a flat plane into a sphere. We used special technology, but still the final adjustments were difficult.

It's an important process that affects the product's overall quality, so we took our time and made many prototypes as we gradually got to what we wanted.

I remember being very moved when I saw the Hobonichi Globe that resulted from all that work.

The Hobonichi Globe is a product with great potential.

It may be a globe, but it's clearly not like any other.

I look forward to seeing people hold it in their hands.
