The data for the Hobonichi Globe's clouds is based on infrared satellite imagery which is assembled from over 10 different satellite sources, including geostationary and orbiting satellites around the world.
It's quite a complex task to convert satellite data in real time from various formats with different orbital rotations, scan frequencies, resolutions, update schedules, and so on.
We produce the temperature by combining information in reports from weather stations around the world, weather satellite data, and multiple forecast models.
As with the cloud data, we have to integrate data from non-uniform weather stations with forecast models. There are many challenges involved in making a global temperature map that is as detailed as possible.
We do everything we can to put it together and provide a high-resolution temperature map.
